Change VIN not retained after power cycle

Post by rjdrew1986 »

Thank you to the many very knowledgeable folks in this forum willing to share your knowledge.

I am able to change the VIN with PCM Hammer & the new VIN shows up when I Read Properties. But reading properties after a power cycle, the PCM resorts back to the original VIN. Is there something that I need to do to make the PCM retain the new VIN?

Regards

You need to leave battery feed connected but turn off the ign feed to the ecm. You can’t simply disconnect power to the ecm. “Turn ign” off for 30 seconds to allow the vin to be written to the eeprom.
