Hi Holden202
The SV6 uses the same cluster as the SS

The Omega, SV6, SS and SS-V, as well as the Pontiac G8 use a single LCD instrument Cluster
The Berlina, Calais, Calais V and HSV Clusters use a Triple LCD cluster.

Here is a link to the different instrument clusters, there features, and what they look like

(Sorry moderators for the external link... It would have taken me forever to copy all the images across from that page)

Cheers

I have only altered the VIN numbers, so as they match, to aid in swapping EEPROMs around for testing....
Just out of interest, what are the odo readings in those bins?

Thanks for that Holden202

Ummmm I actually cannot remember what the Ks were for those EEPROMs....

Probably a good time to describe how to set the Odo reading...

Firstly get the Odo Reading you require.... For this example we will make it 100,000Kms
Next, Divide this number by 3176
100000/3176 = 31.48 (Roughly)
Next, round this number DOWN to the nearest full number (31)
Next, convert this number to a HEX value (1F)
This is the first 2 Bytes used for your Odo Reading....

Next, we need to work out what our rounding error was
So multiply 31 with 3176 which will give you 98456Kms
So to get to 100000Kms, we need to add 1544Kms to 98456Kms
Divide 1544 by 12.5 = 123.52
round this value DOWN (123)
Add 25 to this number (For flavor)
123 + 25 = 148
And convert this number to Hex (94)
This is the next 2 Bytes used for your Odo Reading....
So for an odo reading of (ROUGHLY) 100,000, your Odo Memory locations would need to be 1F940000
(Note the accuracy will be around +- 16Kms)
The last 4 Bytes will either be 0000, or 7FFF
As the Kms are incremented, the first ODO location will change from ????0000 to ????7FFF.
This will trickle down to the next location, and so forth until all locations become ????7FFF.
When this happens, the first ODO locations 4 bytes are incremented by one, and the last 4 bytes are reset to 0000.
And the ????0000 trickles down through each of the ODO memory locations again.

Hope this kinda makes some sense ?!?!?!?!

Cheers

I follow what you're saying and how you're arriving at the numbers, but as far as making sense ... ;)
I'll play with it a bit and see if I can add any logic to the calculation :wtf:

If the EEPROM labelled U7 is desoldiered for programming and resoldiered back on the board would it throw off any errors? has anyone tried? cheers for any feedback

Hi there 9thousand,

As long as you dont cook the EEPROM, and the EEPROM contains valid data, then you should not have any problems.

The current HSV cluster has had the original EEPROM removed, programmed and re-soldered in to place.

The best bet though is to use a 3M 8 Pin SOP to DIL adaptor.
(The EEPROM programmer works fine reading and writing the EEPROM whilst its still on the board).

Makes things heaps easier rather than desoldering and resoldering.

Hope this helps

Hello ZerOne..

I have taken your advice and just bought a 3M 8pin just waiting for it to arrive now from the UK.

Hope it makes things easier for me...

Hope your well mate.

Cheers!

Ooooh Yeah, trust me, it makes a Huuuuge difference !!!!

Oh, and as a bonus it works with the Infotainment Colour LCD main EEPROM as well. (Which is good because taking that thing apart is a right royal pain in the freckle...

I should be getting a second EEPROM dump from a HSV cluster, and an SS Manual soonish....

So that leaves just SS Auto (Unless its the same as the Calais V8 Auto), and the SV6 Auto/Manual before we should have enough info to modify any EEPROM for any model...
(I hope :wtf: )
