nice good read there.now i know why the vn trans was heavier than the VR trans when i did a swap the other day the vn one was heavy as compared to the VR one even though its only 6kg's different so the article says.

6kg is alot of weight especially if your lying under a car trying to lift it up!

Happy to help. I read them years ago and thought most wouldn't have seen them before.
I would be interested in finding a copy of the Authors book on the GM delco system, though it is probably nigh on impossible to get now.

yeah im trying to hunt out the transmission book for the elctronic trans at the moment would be very handy to read so many settings for the auto

I bought the genuine holden workshop manual for VP V8 Engine. best book I ever bought, very comprehensive. it was recommended on the kalmaker site, I remember the guy said it should be renamed "Understanding the delco 808".

Thats a good read, there are a couple of errors but for when it was written has a very very good insight into the workings of both units. Apparently there is also an article that describes how the V8 ignition module works, has a schematic too. Anyone happen to have this? May be handy in fixing the ones that are starting to die now.
