I'm going to wire up a HE sensor that I found in my parts collection for VSS, the datasheet recommends a pull-up resistor between VCC and output for open collector sinking - is this needed for the 808?

It shouldnt need one, the 808 has an internal 5.1k pullup to ign voltage
