crank sensor and dizzy together ?

Post by briney »

hi there guys. i'm looking at delcoing an eb falcon. it's 6 cylinder. it has a hall effect dizzy with a module on it. i'm assuming the outputs and the est control stuff won't work with delco. i'm not super keen on using the v8 module and setup. i've seen on the internets where people have used modified crossflow dizzies. apparently lining up the dizzy gear with its drive gear can be a drama.

one thing i looked at was keeping the distributor (empty, like the est holden 6 ones.) and adding 3 120 degree spaced metal lumps (bolt heads ?) onto the balancer and running a camira module from that. using the vk as an example, it looks like it'll work. as long as i could move the sensor to get the timing right.

am i trying to make it too hard ? what do you guys reckon ? anyone delcoed an ohc falcon 6 ?

You could add 4 more lumps, and use a D1928A module with coil packs?
Or is it possible to adapt a commodore balancer and use the 3x/18x trigger wheels?

The camira modules do work when triggered from the crank and use the dizzy to distribute spark.

i honestly think the easiest way is to use the v8 module, why don't you want to do that ?

the v8 modules seem to shit themselves all the time. i've replaced heaps of them. or are there better aftermarket ones available now ?

maybe i just get them when they've stopped. well, if they're ok that'll be a much easier option.

i haven't seen an ohc falcon engine with a factory fitted reluctor dizzy in it. i have seen where people have modded crossflow dizzies to work. by all accounts getting the drive gear lined up properly seems to be a drama. i agree whole heartedly though. a reluctor and camira setup is easy as.
