DFI module fault or CAS

Post by VX L67 Getrag »

There has been a couple of threads of late relating to EST on ecotec's!

I actually had a VY come in & only a year ago replaced DFI, came back on tow truck with;
P1361 Ign by-pass circuit fault &
P1372 No ref pulses while cranking

I put another new DFI module on it & fired up straight away, but then thought I'd chuck the module on my car & worked perfect????

Could a lazy Crank Angle Sensor cause this or is the further ways to test either units seperately?

If it were my car I'd just replace both, but this customer is a bit strapped!

its very common for the DFI module connector to be dirty and stuff up. seen a few times clean the connector and unplug and replug and issue solved.

Have seen a similar problem we spent ages trying to track down, replaced the crank angle sensor just in case, everything pointed to the DFI module but that wasn't it... turned out the ignition relay was dodgy (working intermittently)

Not sure if this problem would be from that relay as it also controls Trans, fans, a/con & various sensors on a VY so guessing I would have seen other fault codes too.
