progress has been slow, the controller has been in the race car (twin turbo v6 escort) waiting for a drag event to play with it and because we were happy with it as it was.

last drag meet after doing a run with the rear brakes locked on, the box started rumbling... then it wouldnt shift into some gears properly, so it was sent off the the trans builder for a proper rebuild.
when I pulled the controller apart to add the new feature this week, I find the board has vibrated off the arduino and has almost completely come out of the socket..... explains why the tranny guy couldnt find any major problems with the box... the controller was probably stuffing up!
so a new feature has been added, mainly because the gearbox builder thinks the pressure will be way to high leaving the force motor disconnected and will be causing issues trying to get so much fluid exhausted from the previous gear when trying to shift.

I added a Potentiometer to vary duty cycle, pinched one of the mosfet circuits off the prototype vero board and hacked it in to pin 10 PWM output at 490hz, then re mapped one of the display segments that was already there to an unused pin. there is now one unused pin left on the little arduino UNO hahaha.

you can see the duty cycle on the multimeter increasing steadily. you can also hear the 490hz hum of the solenoid... (and the squeal of my daughter in there somewhere) this isnt a proper force motor solenoid and it doesnt have a spring, only gravity. so it just hums then you can hear it click over center as the duty cycle is high enough to keep the solenoid engaged. I am hoping 490hz is close enough to 585hz that the PCMs use on the force motor.

next step is to put the rebuilt gearbox in the race car and put a 300psi pressure gauge on it. we can then adjust the duty cycle to where it needs to be for optimum pressure, then adjust the MAX and MIN duty cycles to safe values in the arduino source code.

pity it doesnt look neat anymore, after hacking in a nokia 5v mobile phone charger to get a stable power source out of the car and hacking in a 4th mosfet circuit, I will have to redesign the board to incorporate them and get a new one printed.

Works well :thumbup: hopefully keeps the gbox a little happier.

hahaha let me know whats changed and im sure I can re-design the PCB to suit.

soon jayme will be making these for people wanting to have 4L60Es fully manualised kit :)

yeah I havent decided yet..... until we have a perfect run in the escort with ho more gearbox issues, im still worried about unleashing it on others and opening myself to potential blame for failed gearboxes.

fitting a pressure gauge and tuning to suit is a good plan .next thing you know will have adaptive shift and be like a vr auto ecu without fueling LOL
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

been playing with that on mine, got a 0-5v 0-200psi sensor and datalog it and compair pressure vrs clutch slip rpm.

What pressure does a stock setup run at wot?

Forward Gears are 0-200, reverse is more. with PCS at 0.2 during WOT i get 190-200, obviously bigger boost solenoid helps.

I would be really interested in seeing a real pressure VS tps log if you have one? we have put the modified controller in the car. works perfectly :afro: the highest we tried it was 225 and it wasnt even at the top of the potentiometer yet. (wonder how much pressure it was running disconnected EEK) it idles so much happier when you wind the pressure down, so we want to hook it up to the tps. ill make a tps volt vs duty cycle scale so that by half throttle its pegged at 200 psi... it would be so much easier if I could see how much pressure the factory box ran at idle and light throttle.
