falcon crank angle sensor
falcon crank angle sensor
Can anyone confirm whether the ford falcon straight 6 crank angle sensor is compatible with a delco DIS set up? It has two wires just like a holden ABS sensor but has two lugs on its side making it easier to mount than an ABS sensor. I don't want to go to the effort of making a bracket for it if it isnt going to work...

Re: falcon crank angle sensor
do you know what type it is, reluctor ?
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Im not sure? is there an easy way to tell? The tip is magnetic just like the holden abs sensors..

Re: falcon crank angle sensor
more than likely thats what it is then...
you really need to get some more information, like a datasheet or similar

Re: falcon crank angle sensor
Two wires is going to be a reluctor - some ford reluctors use 3 pins, but these have a small length of cable leading from the sensor head and have two signal wires and a shield connection. Measure the resistance between the two pins, should be a few K ohms.
It will most likely work with a DIS module, they dont seem to be very picky on sensors. Can setup a simple test rig with a drill and trigger wheel on the bench, the module makes sparks on its own without the ECU so needs hardly any connections.

Re: falcon crank angle sensor
I just measured the resistance between the two pins, the holden abs sensors measured 1682 where as the ford sensor only measured 340. I guess this means i cant use the ford sensor?
Re: falcon crank angle sensor
The saab ABS sensor I use measures at just under 1k ohm.
Does your ford sensor measure the same resistance in both polarities? If so it's a reluctor (I'm pretty sure it is anyway) and should work ok.
As VL400 said, wire up power and the sensor to your DIS module and spin your crank pulley in a drill, you'll know pretty quickly if it will work or not

yes its reluctor,
has only 2 wires and twisted pair.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
Re: falcon crank angle sensor
Are these available without the dirty 4 letter word on them, I don't know if I could live with myself if it was on my car.

lol, get a soldering iron and run the tip over it !!
