Hi all, can anyone recommend a good serial to USB adaptor that will work with the cable that comes with the mtx-l? I've heard that the cheap ebay ones don't work.
Thanks.

Anything that is FTDI based will work well There are a heap of clone FTDI devices on places like ebay now, so watch out for the really cheap ones.

Thanks vl400. Do you know if the cable jaycar sells is the ftdi type?

Its using a Prolific chip. It will likely work on the MTX-L as it uses a standard baud rate, but if you ever think it may get used on a ECU at a non-standard baud rate (like 8192 baud) it wont work - there is a registry hack that may work but I dont know if its 100% or not.

The registry hack only works on 1 specific revision. It does not work on mine (random). Best to buy one that advertises FTDI chipset I reckon.

Thanks for the info fellas

I grabbed a serial adapter from jaycar and no good. Did some strange things to the gauge to the point i thought it might have smoked it. I had to diconnect and pull the wideband out and then recalibrate the whole thing. I have tossed the adapter and ordered one from innovate.
