How to setup of Knock Sensor for VN V8
Need some help on how to setup a knock sensor for my VN V8. I have a NVRAM setup from VL400.
Looking for a easy way for a newbie to add a knock sensor to my setup.
A suggestion ive had so far is to get a HSV VN V8 knock sensor and chip and solder the chip to my NVRAM. I cant find this so called chip anywhere.
Any suggestion and help is appreciated....

To fit a knock sensor, you need a knock sensor and wiring loom to suit and then a memcal fitted with a knock board.
Easiest way is to find an genuine HSV memcal.
I have occasionally seen knock sensors and looms on ebay.

Where are you located. If Sydney I can help. I have a bag of 6cly knock boards. There are a few on this forum that say they give false signals when fitted to a V8 but I have done it and they work fine. You then end to turn on a couple of parameters/switches in the program wire in a knock sensor and that's it. You can then start tuning.

Yes you have to solder it onto the memcal over the top of the netres chips. The you have to set the ESC params in the program to about 50 degrees or it will not work. If your not up to it it's probably easier to buy the right memcal but if you do make sure it's got a knock board as most of the V8's didn't. It was only HSV that I know of.

Im skeptical of that claim. The knock board is an audio bandpass filter thats tuned to the frequency of the sound of the knock which is mostly dependant on the bore of the engine.
If you cant find genuine festy has some programmable after market ones which can be tuned to the engine in the for sale section.

Yes I agree that the exact frequency filtering should be used but wonder with only 3.5mm difference in bore size and taking into account all the other factors with the engine noise is it far enough out to cause a problem? Surely the filter doesn't work on the output frequency but rater than on harmonics of the original to determine if it is in fact knocking?

Is this what I'm looking for?
Is this a good price. And this seller ok. I know some are questionable.

Yep, clear pics of the 1F board, and hes a member here.
I reckon someone needs to record the signal from a v8 knocking and then feed that in to a v6 board to test, similar to what vl400 has shown in this thread. Then we'll see if it triggers correctly. Having said that, it will be hard to validate we have a good input signal from the v8. Garbage in, garbage out.
