27c512 memcal corrupt?

Post by Dazza92VP »

has anyone had any issues with vr memcals with 27c512 in it. i wiped and programmed this memcal a couple of months ago with $12p and today it threw and engine check light up and wouldnt idle under 1500 so got home checked fault codes comes up with 12 all ok and fault only comes up when running so put my other 808 with high speed in it and fitted that memcal and wouldnt connect chucked my nvram in it with correct $12p in it and it runs fine and connects. so i chucked that memcal into the programmer and its still got info on it but its not lining up with any of the $12p bins i have on my comp

anyone had issues like this before or got any idea why this might have happened?

Erase it again and then read it before you load the program to make sure it is actually blank. Sometimes it may not be fully erased.

I did that last time and it came up blank I then programmed it the carried out a verification check and also a Post read and compare to the bin and it was all fine. I'm going to do it all again to see if it can still be used

It is possible that its a bad chip. They can read too slow for the pcm even though they verify ok (not common), and ive seen factory memcal swith broken bits. I had one the other week which had a bit that was reading 0 and would not flip to a 1 even with a fair bit more UV and despite the rest of the chip had erased fine. Fortunately the tune had a 0 in that position, so it verified ok and worked, but its not the first time Ive seen that on factory memcal hardware.
