Kal EFI101
Help me understand what i have here.
And potentially what i can do with it.
Story goes, I found this in a Red Kalmaker Delco 808 ECU i have.
ECU works fine, I flashed 12P onto a VR5ltr chip & can also connect to TP5 via the RS323 port.
However this pictured below doesn't work.
The Dallas won't ID in my GQ.
If i burn, verify and read it back, the tables are scattered.
Im assuming the battery is flat in the DS1230Y

There is no battery?....
Im sure someone with kalmaker experience will chime in to answer your other issues

According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...
Re: Kal EFI101
Battery is internal to the ds1230y same as the ds1245y in our pcmhacking nvrams. I think Jayme or the1 managed to grind the top gently off of one and fitted a new battery to it in another thread some where
Edit:
Found it

Re: Kal EFI101
You did take the DS1230Y out of the holder to read it didn't you? There will be pin swapping going on & come up scattered if you try read it in the carrier!

Re: Kal EFI101
Yeh took it out of the carrier.
When i 1st acquired the Kalmaker and tried a hot run as is, all it did was hold the injectors open & flood the motor.
Also, what is the NDS0326 chip, & the 2 resistors on the plug in board do ?

Re: Kal EFI101
From memory, the 1230 battery lasts 10 years, and this one's from 2008, so that means it's either faulty or fake. You probably need to replace it.
The mystery chip would be an EPLD/GAL.
The resistors would form a "resnet" (used to configure some ECU stuff such as no. of cylinders, IIRC).
Joe.

If you plan to sell it, let me know. If you plan to keep I may have
software and dongle to get you started.

Re: Kal EFI101
Its possible that this Kalmaker RT board is configured for a 4Cyl engine. Notice the white sticker on the top board displays number 4. Could be why your V8 engine got flooded.
Re: Kal EFI101
No limp home mode resistors are fitted. This is probably the cause.

Re: Kal EFI101
Don't know too much history of the unit.
I brought it off a blokes mate, said it was running in a v8 commodore a few years back.
Meh, means nothing i guess.
I want to keep it, repair, replace & get 12P working on it.
Its looking like i need a new NVRAM chip from this site to replace this faulty 1.
