wow, that broke good. Doesn't look to have thrown too much debris around as I expected.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Yes, it broke quite well. At around 475,000 km with nothing more than a few oil chages over that time. I put it down to my conservative grandpa style driving techniques as my sons call it. Well, i can only try and take credit for such a breakage, without much more than that breaking in the gearbox.

i am just waiting to know which way to put the o-ring and metal ring on in the pump so then I cnan continue the repairs. It was unable to see from the old one which way round they go.

Regards

John.

There seems to be an exploded diagram here:

That's a real handy set of diagrams. A question about the check balls in the valve body. Part No 61 is listed as #2 3 4 5 6 8 and 12. It's not my area but surely there is only the 2 check balls.

Thanks guys,
On further dismantling and viewing. I nkw found an item, wedged in the rear end of the trans section. I cant even see it to be part of the Transmission. Pic attached. If anyone knows where it is meant to go or even if it is part of the transmission at all?

This is one of the longest repairs ever i have experienced in my life on cars.

Regards

John.

That is a solenoid retaining clip from the valve body bent backwards.

It's a lo/reverse clutch support spring( anti rattle ) that goes between the case and the lo/ reverse clutch support assembly (the part in your last pic).
