Hi all,
as per title, does the 424 running a getrag require a speedo input?
if so why?
Cheers. big G.
Is speedo input required for 424 PCM?
Is speedo input required for 424 PCM?
According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...
Re: Is speedo input required for 424 PCM?
it doesnt NEED it... im running one in a mates car with no speed input. known a few people do T5 conversions and turn off the auto codes on the 424 and leave the speed input to the 424 disconnected and run the hall sensor direct to the dash. car runs fine with no obvious issues, but there are a few things that dont work right without it... two that come to mind are DFCO, and Idle control. for the idle control, when you are slowing down through the gears, when you take your foot off the throttle, the pcm assumes its idling at a standstill and since the revs are high, it closes the IAC all the way. the second you put your foot on the clutch... stall. the way around that is to wind in the throttle stopper until its open far enough that the engine doesnt stall even with the IAC fully closed..
Re: Is speedo input required for 424 PCM?
Thanks Jayme,
I should have mentioned it was for a speedway car and has no speedo to worry about.
DFCO would be great for fuel saving and not soaking the plugs? Endurance racing requires good fuel economy...
Stalling isn't an issue, don't usually change gears.
Will the speedo pickup on the getrag work on the 424 or will it require a speed signal adapter?
cheers.

Re: Is speedo input required for 424 PCM?
thats the good thing! the getrag is a reluctor speed sensor same as the 4L60E, so just wire it in and you are set.

Sweet, consider it done
