Vz ls1 charging issues
Vz ls1 charging issues
Has anyone one come across charging issues with the pcm controlled alternators in the vz ss it's had a brand new alternator battery's fine wiring back to the pcm is fine wiring to battery is fine and all the grounds are good but voltage still only jumps to 14v every couple of seconds the straight back down to battery voltage
Re: Vz ls1 charging issues
I've only ever had one (albeit VE) faulty PCM cause similar problems, it is always a faulty alternator regulator, was the one you fitted genuine or aftermarket?
You could cut/disconnect the field control wire then the alternator will charge constant, like the non PCM controlled type.

According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...
Re: Vz ls1 charging issues
Aftermarket oex unit was wondering if it went full charge or turned off with the field winding disconnected will give that ago PPP the pin out of the back of the plug and see if it starts charging good
Re: Vz ls1 charging issues
Ok tried disconnecting that wire didn't do anything tried the other just incase I got the wrong pin still nothing so brand new alternator dead talked to a couple of guys and they said that they've had nothing but issues with these aftermarket alternators and recommend to use genuine only
Re: Vz ls1 charging issues
That will fix it, that is why I don't use OEX anymore...
