Well with the latest gear I got I thought I'd do a bit of testing & 1st set out was how GM stuffed up the code so the bin can't be read completely properly over ALDL & I thought it was just 1 digit at end of the code?
I had a CJKU(found out after) & the differences started straight away at 0000 & went through till 1FF7 then lined up the same till FFFF & mismatched till1FFFF
Then I had a LPG cnpc(again found out after) & same differences started straight away & then lined up o.k. from 2000 till it hit 9000 & mismatched till 17FDB & then also the very last byte.
I'm sure they cluey guys will have a reason for this, you could say I was a bit bored! LOL

Re: Flash Tool Read Vs memcal read
With factory ALDL code you cant read the upper memory bank on 128k bins. 0-2000 is RAM and other CPU registers so will be non-zero compared to a bin, 10000 and above will be a copy of the lower bank.
The flash PCMs work due to writing code thats run from RAM to read/write all banks. 32k and 64k bins screw just the last byte when reading the bin.

Cool thanks again for the clarification VL, I thought it was going to be something like that, but thought it even stranger the LPG read started at 9000 rather than 10000!
