NVRAM issues
I'm having some issues with some NVRAM's. I can burn them ok ( using the stacked OSE bin). They varify ok.
Install the NVRAM into the adaptor and then cannot conntect via tunerpro.
I even bought a new burner ( GQ-4X) as I wasn't confident in my Top 2004.
Still get the same result with the GQ.
I checked them with a hex editor ( not that I know too much about hex..) but they appear to be the correct offset.
If someone can take a look at the bin for me it would be appreciated.

The read back looks right to me too. Have you got the jumper set for ds1245y and the right orientation of the chip in the socket? Is the read back before or after you put the nvram in the pcm? if before, whats it look like after?
I have in the past had trouble with well used nvrams where some of the legs didnt contact properly in the socket. This was fixed by slightly bending all the pins a fraction closer to the center so they contated better, though by the time you get to that stage relibility becomes a concern.

Re: NVRAM issues
I double checked the jumper and it's ok. Pin one is to pin one.
To double check the burner, I burnt an eeprom and it worked fine. Seems to be a specific NVRAM problem.
The NVRAMs I am using are brand new.

Re: NVRAM issues
Have you tried programming it and then taking it out of the burner for half an hour, then re-verifying?
I had one with a weak battery, the voltage was high enough to write-enable the SRAM on powerup and it verified after burning because power wasn't removed between programming and verifying - but as soon as I removed it from the burner's socket it would lose it's memory.

Re: NVRAM issues
Had a look at the other thread.
Mine are 2011 made. They were not cheapies either.
Might be just a bad batch, they are going back to the supplier as he has agreed to replace them.

Re: NVRAM issues
If they are fakes, the date code is meaningless - as The1 discovered with hisLawso wrote: Mine are 2011 made.

Re: NVRAM issues
When I had issues with suppliers a few years back I emailed the date code and production number to maxim, they replied within 24 hours. Might be able to check the ones you have now are genuine.
If you do need some now I have plenty available.

Re: NVRAM issues
I now have varified genuine DS1245Y's.
Still can't get it to work....
The previous batch seem to have had battery issues as they would not varify after 24hrs.
This batch, ( bought from RS components) do varify after being left to stand.
They write ok, varify after the write then varify again after 24hrs.
I have tried 2 different burners, ( top2004 and I even bought a new GQ-4X), downloaded the stacked bin again several times, tried different laptops ( 3 to be precise).
I burnt an eeprom and it works ok, so I must be doing something right. As soon as I try the DS1245y, I can not connect to it in the ecu.
I have noticed though, after installation in the board and fitting to the ecu, If I try to connect to it, I can no longer varify. It seems as though the ECU/board/usb comms is corrupting the DS1245Y. I have 5 real time converted ecu's here and they seem to all do the same thing.
If I install a memcal to the ecu's, they connect and read fine.
I am starting to get really frustrated with this and any help would be appreciated.

Re: NVRAM issues
Does the NVRAM still corrupt if you remove the write enable jumper?
