at29c010 won't allow offset burning?

Post by gibbo »

I have a AT29c010 and willem pcb50. When I choose this eeprom in software the offset window is greyed out. Is this a limitation of this chip? If I pick some other eproms etc the window is available.

It is not a limitation of the chip. Offset burning can be a bit hit and miss, some versions of the willem parallel port software are buggy and it doesnt work, others do. It sounds like its greyed out for no good reason in yours. You can work around it by stacking your bin file to make up a file where the data you want is at the right offset in the file, then write the whole chip with no offset.

Ok so with bin stacking, I am doing a vs v6. My bin size is 128k, chip size 128k, block size 128k. Is this right? So I would not need to stack it. I guess I shouldn't have to offset it either. :wtf:

I tried a different bin, from a vr its still the same. It also is greyed out when I start the program before I load a bin. Anyway I don't need to do it, just interested in how all this works.
