V6 VS dual tuning Problems

Post by Spin »

Hi All,
I have spent a lot of time reading around the forums and heck I am impressed. :)
Not trying to gain browny points I have a problem. :) :) :(
I have a stock BT1 VS V6 conversion in my '88 hilux. :driving:

As below
RFI series 1 PCM,
V6,
4l60e,
4.3 final diff ratio.
31" OD tyres.
Dual Fuel, (THX Bloodnut) :punk:

Yep, using a shit load of fuel.
24l per 100 Klm's of fuel. Both ways. :wtf:
So, it is time to do something about it. :hmm:
Absolutely fantastic torque and "Cruisability" and very smooth shifting but changes gear very fast down and all but doggy as hell at 85 to 95 Klm hour. :geek:
Oh, LPG is Piggy Back JX vapour injected system and can only "learn" on what the stock system can do. :wall:

Here we go... :geek: :geek:

After spending a lot of time lurking on here I have finally built my self an adapter to plug my VS memcal into my Willem PCB45 programmer and read a bin file then save it.
Problem is even though the file is 128 K in lenght, and using the ADX on here all I get is all settings showing "0". :comp:
Using the standard "def" file in Tunerpro I can get some settings to show up.

I plan at least to "adjust" the ppk value first then move on from there.

Eprom burners to me are no problem to use.

I also am going to purchase the realtime tuner package as well because I have 3 :) mates on the go as well with petrol units only.
(pissing them of with mine.) :0 :0

any Help Muchly apreciated.

Welcome aboard! Good to hear your gas is gas injection

For your problem - what XDF are you using to load the file? Have you tried looking at the file with a hex editor to make sure it does have content in it (I wonder if there is a bad connection in your adaptor). Can the1's bin id tool ID it? https://pcmhacking.net/forums/view ... 905#p10603 Can you post the bin up here?
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

THX Antus,
Bin is,

No bad connections either. checked with VMO under load.
I did notice in eprom45's hex trace that all the info was loaded high.
I do remember that the ECU only reads the top end of the eprom though.
To me not a big deal as I am only reading ATM.

Oh,
Lotta research in the gas injected side. PMSL.
I did not want to spend a fortune on air box's and be liable for heart attacks and embaressment in the main drag.
' Lux was already compliant. Why waste it. :cash:

Welcome

I tried opening the bin and XDF you posted, all ok. Are you opening an ADX or XDF? Use the File menu to open the bin and the XDF menu for the XDF. You will get a title bar in TunerPro like this showing the bin and XDF...

hi,

i also have lux with comm v6, but earlier vp and 808 controller.
also had similar fuel consumption ie 25tl/100 on gas and petrol

first changed diff ratios (4WD) to 4.1 although your 4.3s should be OK
economy improved by 10% but major improvement came from oxy sensor (mine had been disconected)

now on gas ~ 18l/100 around town similar on hwy at 110-120Ks, but petrol on hwy at 100ks is now 14l/100 which i can live with
