Adding thermo fan control VN

Post by mikefch9 »

I am new to tuning the delco 808 in my vn commodore. Just purchased and installed a holden stroked 396 crate motor with t5 gearbox. I am seeking advice on changing the temperatures that the thermo fans come on and off at (no clutch fan) as this new memcal has them coming on way to early. what hardware and software do I need or can I simply make a backup copy and get it done by post.

Some of the crate engine or cam package memcals have protected EEPROMs so you cant (easily) change them. If the memcal looks like a standard EPROM then you should be ok..

Would then need to read its contents in a EPROM programmer and work out what it is on it. If its just a factory bin thats been modied/tuned then will be easy to find the fan control items. First step see what memcal it is then get a read of it. If its a standard EPROM am sure someone on here can read it for you (and if a standard factory bin on it make the changes to the fan items).
