Shouldn't need to stack if its same size eprom you read it from.

That part always confused me....and still does lol.
Burned the original read off my mates hsv memcal with vats disabled, verified all good.
Compared original bin to modded bin in TP and job done!
Will give my mate the memcal tomorrow and he can try it out tomorrow night and hope it starts for him....that's if his wiring is correct.
Cheers to all for your help.

Easy way for me is. Multiply bin size by 8 is the "finished" size or eprom size.
I can't explainit well but difference between bits and bytes. 8 bits in a byte.

I read the FAQ and I confused myself thinking that because its a 64kb file it needs to be stacked to fill a 512kb chip and what you said is the "finished" size makes more sense.
cheers

You will have to correct the checksum or turn it off.

Possibly the XDF was set up to auto correct? I switch to 12P or 11P on these model's partly for that reason alone.

The problem was that tuner pro couldn't handle the standard $11 checksum due to the way the code was set out.
I am still using the old fully defined xdf but using the antus/vl400 checksum plugin.

So even using the file off the original read from the memcal and turning vats off alters the checksum?
I'm using the old skool willem parallel burner.
Is the checksum changed in tunerpro or the burner?
I have no idea about checksums and offsets and where to change it as ive never dabbled in it and have a lot to learn.
My mate rang tonight and said the car started and runs,so that's good news.

Getting back to this for my mate,I'll be copying an 11P onto a chip for him to try.
With the original read off his HSV memcal,i disabled Vats, done the netres mod,he says the engine starts and runs but auto trans is not taking off in 1st...more like 3rd or so he says.
CEL is on.
Is this a likely sign that the checksum needs correcting or turned off?
How is this done.
In the XDF I see PROM ID set as 9998.00
KKKGMID program ID word $11=1993 - $AA=bypass checksum set as 131.00
KKPGMID checksum $5000 through $ffff set as 48535.00

am I looking in the wrong area???? lol
