The price was high. But it sounds like it could be flashed with a cheap eBay cable. The issue is I do not think this is a very easy project. The usual method of reverse engineering a bike ecu ends up with a destroyed ecu. It also usually a long and hard process. I will look around thus weekend as it is a long weekend so I should have some time.

ok. what do you mean about the usual method destroying the ecu? what sort of ebay cable and/or software are we talking here? i've bought a spare ecu, when it comes i'll open the case and see if i can see what the processor is.

The motorcycle, non car ecu are potted. They need to be cut open to expose the board to enable reading of the ecu. This sounds easy but the destroying part is easy, reading is hard. I will look and see if I have a ecu at home, I think I have one from Thailand that is similar. If it is I will cut it up and see what I can this weekend. Do not go destroying a good ecu. Reverse engineering is very hard and expensive both in dollars and time.

I will up load some pictures of the Honda scoopy ecu I have later this weekend. I have one with most of the potting removed.

is the potting on your ecu hard? like an epoxy sort of deal? mine looks like it's been sealed up with silicon, or polyurethane. something rubbery anyway.

Sorry forgot that it is only a long weekend in W.A. I will try to organize some better lighting so the pictures are high quality. The material is not hard it is just tricky to remove without damaging something. Google ECU potting material removal and you will find some advice on different methods . I do not know of anyone who has provided information on using a cheap tool to read the flash from the processor. I am assuming the pads on the lower left side of the board are for a BDM or a similar tool.

If it's silicone, could you use a toothbrush and acetone? Maybe petrol?

I am not sure what the material is, I will try some nail polish remover tonight and see how it works. I am not sure how it would work as the whole inside of the case is filed with the material. It must be close to a 1cm think in places. I probable should try and work out which pins the pads are connected to. It may be possible to read the chip using a cheap tool. I am not very hopeful based on my lack of talent and the difficulty I have seen others have had on similar projects.

I've googled the shit out of it, and it seems honda uses slightly different messages? In their data stream. It's supposed to be iso9141? But different enough it won't work with common tools. Mob of pricks. As for a lack of talent, you're in good company. Lol.
