Stock VT memcal write fail VT SC Enhanced

Post by L67VSTY »

Hi all 1st time memcal burning with GQ 4x4 to a standard VT V6 chip CJKU1912 with VT SC Enhanced $A5G v1.3 bin and getting write failed Address=0x000000, buffer=0x00 Device=0xFF, I can't find anything to help me in the FAQ.

The device will not ID comes up as device id (hex) FFFF, manufacture Not in library, Type Unknown device.

The chip has been erased for 20 mins & comes up as blank, in the buffer all the hex are FF

I have tried using for the device 27c010, FM27c010, TMS27c010, NM27c010 but they all won't ID I tried to write but get the following message write failed Address=0x000000, buffer=0x00 Device=0xFF.

If someone could please help out be much appreciated.

Cheers

Can you read the code on the chip?

They should ID with a 27c010 chip selected.
Don't bother trying to read or burn the chip until you can ID it.
Basics first:
Is chip inserted correctly, should be at the bottom of the ZIF socket
Is chip orientation correct, should have notch on chip towards the top
Is it a 32 pin adapter your using and not 28 pin
Not sure what adapter you're using, but check continuity between header and base and no pins shorted to adjacent pins
If all of the above ok only time I've had an issue is with a fried chip.

Chip orientation was incorrect I had the notch towards the bottom, (have now corrected)
Chip was correctly mounted at the bottom of the ZIF although diagram on RH side window of software shows 1 at top LH, 20 bottom LH, 40 top RH & 21 bottom RH there is a (RED) No 5 on the top LH side of chip.
It is a 32 pin adapter from THE1 that I assembled myself & have rechecked for continuity & shorts (all OK)
The adaptor has No. 1 top LH, 35 bottom LH, 2 top RH & 36 bottom RH. It has 4 pins going into the bottom of EPROM housing but not used by the chip and no corresponding pins at the bottom of the header plate (32 pins into programmer & 36 pins into memcal) when I mount the adapter into the programmer the 4 unused pins overhang the bottom of the ZIF.

The chips will still not ID but they read & show up in the buffer have tried 3 different ones the blank one CJKU1912, the one out of the car CXH1935 & an aftermarket one that the label reads VT HSV XU6 SUPERCHARGED. I tried the XU6 chip back in the car & it still runs & starts not sure if it could be fried if that is the case & the CXH1935 out of the car also doesn't ID but shows code & runs

Thanks for the help so far require more help if possible.

Can you put up a screenshot of the gq4x software set to ID as a 27c010 chip just in case there is something I'm missing?

that looks correct, the memcal will go on the socket the same way it goes in a pcm, with the face pcm connectors guide. then pin 35 36 end goes to the bottom of the zif socket on the burner. Hope that makes sense.
