Replacement EEPROM for 03-06 GM Instrument Clusters

Post by jds8086 »

I have started rebuilding the 03-06 GM Instrument clusters (replacing stepper motors / lights / re-flowing commonly cracked solder joints). I am working on getting what i need to also program the eeprom. I want to have replacements on hand in case i screw one up somehow, but i'm not sure exactly what i need. The clusters have a eeprom labeled:

ATMEL238
25020NB
A1C1260

I came across this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/10PC-AT25020N- ... 2763.l2649, but i am not sure if that will work as there appears to be more info needed than just the 25020. Also i cannot find any 25020 ending in "NB". Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the part you've shown has a date code that would be week 38 of 2002. Judging by the copyrights on their respective datasheets, this part should predate the AT25020A and the AT25020B, so this would be the original AT25020. Now, the only 25020 SOIC P/N listed in the original series datasheet is AT25020N-10SI-2.7, so that must be your part.

I appreciate you explaining how you figured out what it should be. Thanks!
