I have a vp 304 in my hilux and need the thermo temps dropped to turn fans on a fair bit earlier, I have a 72 deg thermostat in it.

What computer are you running and is it set up for 12p

just std vp computer - not setup for 12p

if it's only a standard memcal then you won't be able to run thermo fans as it's not enabled in the standard tune. You will need to swap in an nvram conversion and run 12p if you want adjustability

ok I thought the std ac fan trigger temp could be pulled down to a lower temp to trigger the thermo relay, ill do sum reading on what you said I have to do

From memory the standard aircon thermo only comes on when you turn the A/C on ? It's not temp related. Are you running a mechanical fan ? If so a factory mechanical fan wil cool it fine, if not I wouldn't run it until you get some sort of fan up and running

no engine fan mate. engine bay is tight, im running twin thermos, I will wire them up and switch them manually but want to get it sused so the computer
turns them on and off.

I've done it before on VN's running the $DB HSV code, think the other codes run it too. Is it a stock motor?

Is 72 degrees too cold for the 304? I know some (most?) of the Holden v8s are designed to run hotter than that and when they run too cold the fuel efficiency decreases a fair bit. There is a thread about it around here somewhere. Can someone with more idea confirm or deny?

72 is quite cold I'd be suprised if it would regulate at that temp anyway. I've seen 81 work on a 304.
