Re: 253 V8 carby selection
To freshen a 304 with stock pistons costs me about $2000nz and the only thing a shop touched was fitting cam bearings
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Yes, Some machine shops will hone the good bores then bore/hone the sleeve to match.
Not something we did ...
Pretty much any shop will take your money, what you get for it in return will be the difference!

Looks like I will have to take it to the machine shop and see what they sayvlad01 wrote:Not sure but it cost me bit over 1k for all the machine work including rebore on my 6 but I supplied the pistons, the rest they supplied, bearings etc. I would expect for an 8 to be around $1500 ? maybe?

Re: 253 V8 carby selection
Hi Guy's
Had it fixed up a while back. But have not had time to do anything to it because misses had a stroke but all is good now so back to work on this. Here is some pictures after the sleeve was put in.
Thanks to everyone helping me out!
But now I have another problem
Anyone know what 5 speed manual gearbox this is below? I was told I need to swap the bellhousing in pictures to get it the bolt up to the 253 V8. The other thing I need to workout is what clutch fork will it need? I know the VH commodore is a cable clutch but as for the fork I don't know please help if you need any more pictures or info let me know thanks Guy's

I think it might be a Celica box but I could be wrong?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
