To freshen a 304 with stock pistons costs me about $2000nz and the only thing a shop touched was fitting cam bearings
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Yes, Some machine shops will hone the good bores then bore/hone the sleeve to match.
Not something we did ...

Pretty much any shop will take your money, what you get for it in return will be the difference!

Out of interest say I did put a later commodore V8 in say from a VN or newer would you need an engineers certificate? most of it bolts right in as far as I know :think:

Scrap that idea. Been talking to my mate I got the engine off, he's going to give me my money back and said keep the motor! so it will be going to the machine shop. Thanks everyone for all the help I really appreciate that :thumbup:

Dropped engine at the machine shop, The guy had a quick look. It will need a sleeve in the bad cylinder rest hone then re ring and bearing we are hoping! he said he'd let me know if any thing else is needed. Fingers crossed I hope to get it running Easter weekend :)

253 to 310 stroker =
bore 0.120" over size
offset grind stock crank
chev SJ 327 5.7" rods that need to be narrowed
chev 305 pistons machined to correct height

Hi Guy's

Had it fixed up a while back. But have not had time to do anything to it because misses had a stroke :wtf: but all is good now so back to work on this. Here is some pictures after the sleeve was put in.

But now I have another problem :lol:

Anyone know what 5 speed manual gearbox this is below? I was told I need to swap the bellhousing in pictures to get it the bolt up to the 253 V8. The other thing I need to workout is what clutch fork will it need? I know the VH commodore is a cable clutch but as for the fork I don't know please help :D

I think it might be a Celica box but I could be wrong?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.
