Are the big end caps numbered or did you number them? Same as the main caps?

You don't want to mix them up as they are all machined to their unique place and differ in bore location/size.

Man that bore pitting is bad lol.

Unless those bores look better in person it may be too bad to be bored.

No doubt that cannot be bored for oversize ... a sleeve is in that blocks future else it's a boat anchor!

I would get those rod caps back on the rods ASAP! Those get mixed up, that becomes a big unnecessary expense.
Leaving them separate is a disaster waiting to happen.

It is easier not to learn bad habits, then it is to break them!

If I was here to win a popularity contest, their would be no point, so I wouldn't be here!

Actually you can bore a 253 a long way oversize compared to most engines due to the extra metal, don't quote me on this but I think I've heard of up to 0.140" over? The trick then of course is finding pistons, I think 245 Hemi or something like that can work.

Its all cost though, you have to compare with what it would cost to just grab a good second hand block (or even 308 bottom end). Here it would cost a fortune for machining but it might be different for you guys.

Yeah I also heard over 100+ thou was easy on these engines due to the meaty cylinder walls.

That cam retainer doesn’t look quite right. Is the bolt tight or is there something else going on?
