4L80E sport shift mode

Post by Sachem »

Hello all,
I need some help. Does anyone know how to wire a 4L80E to work in sport mode with a Lokar LS shifter with OE reprogrammed ECU. I called Lokar and they said they don't know how to wire it, they say I need an aftermarket trans controller. In fact, it seemed like the tech guy couldn't be bothered with my question. I don't want to purchase a controller. If need be I will send the shifter back and get something else. I've gotten help from people on this forum before. I hope you guys can help again.

Thanks
Tom

Well I know the tow haul switch is a class 2 message from the BCM on many models...but it wouldn't surprise me if there was another way. Maybe I can dig something else up

Edit: what pcm are you using?

Edit2: I think I figured out what you are trying to do. You want a sort of tap shift setup?

Exactly what I'm looking for. I am using the factory ECU from a 2005 Escalade. I reprogrammed it for 4L80E trans using tuner pro. In the trans section it also mentions using pin 31 to access full manual shifting.
I hope you can help me with this. If not I will have to return the shifter and replace it with a regular floor shifter and wait until July to receive it!
Thanks for the response.

Oh, it's DBW if you need to know that.

I see that C1 pin 32 is labeled transmission shift signal A on medium duty applications with the allison trans. That's all I've been able to come up with so far. Likely you need a TCM.

DIY Manual Valve Body:

Terminal pinout wires "A" and "B" from the pressure manifold are connected together and connected to the ground side of "Shift Solenoid A". Terminal pinout wire " C" from the pressure manifold is connected to the ground side of "Shift Solenoid "B". 12 Volts is supplied to the Pink Wire on the outside of the trans .This will power up the shift solenoids as well as the lock up solenoid. If you want to lock the converter you must run the Brown Wire on the outside of the trans through a toggle switch to chassis ground.

gmtech285, I will try and screen shot the parameter showing get pin 31. On my ecu it's not used according to schematics.

Frisky Dingo, thanks fro the reply. I am familiar with that schematic, but it will be full manual all the time. I want to be able to switch from automatic to full manual only when I need to.

the only models I have seen with the option had a tcm controlling the shifts. That's interesting, what OS are you using
