VW Bosch EDC16U1 ECU Replacement

Post by The1 »

I havn't gone outside of GM stuff before but a mate has a 2005 VW T5 Transporter Diesel with trayback used for work, he's a tradie, VW Said the ECU was dead and it would cost $4000 to replace ECU and BDM as a pair. The car is not worth that much, i had a look around and it seems $400 odd for a used ecu or $1500 for new, but i know nothing about the security on these with relinking or IMMO Disable, there doesn't seem to be any verifiable information around about these so posting here to see if anyone else has done a ecu replacement in these, for shits and giggles i cracked his ecu open and ive done a reflow on the processor to see if it will work to get the car moving for the moment.

It looks to be running a MCP556LF8MZP40 with a AMD AM29BL802CB Flash.

BDM is pretty popular for these types of ECUs, perhaps it can be cloned with BDM so the new ecu doesn't have to be relinked. From memory the IMMO stuff is on a serial EEPROM.

Let me know if you need any help with Galletto or this ECU. You can also use BDM100 for this and many other MPC5xx ECUs.
