VZ V6 ECM Relink Problem

Post by allterrainaction »

Don't often have problems I can't fix but we've bricked our VZ Adventra on the side of the road.

We had a replacement ECM provided to us by Injectronics, we reset our original ECM then disconnected battery and replaced old ECM with replacement ECM. We connected battery back up and tried to then BCM link to ECM/PIM from Tech 2 it ran its process, but never said completed programming or anything and reset back to the engine menu. Upon trying to do it again we get the below error but the ECM still is not recognised by the car. We have also tried to relink the old ECM but it says the same thing about No Programming Approval Found, Please get programming approval from TIS.

Any help is appreciated.

This is a little out of my wheelhouse but that looks like the error when we're trying to do something without security level 3 enabled on Saab or Saturn

with tech2 at main screen and plugged into the car AND plugged into a computer using a lan cable plugged into the DB9 network cable to serial port adapter you would run security from tis2web. This would read the vehicle thru the tech2 and then enable security level 3.. You could then do stuff like link/unlink/program immo and fobs, etc..

tech2 needs TIS security approval, so you'l either need acdelco tds access or an old running copy of tech2win can do it. Usually once its approved tech2 will do 3 attempts.

As above, needs TIS access.

Tech2 connected to car with new ECM and ign on:

Main Menu -> F1: Service Programming System (SPS) -> F0: Request Info. -> (Select year, model) F0: Engine -> 3.6L V6.... follow prompts till it asks to be turned off and connected to computer (ignore VIN being incorrect, this can be fixed later but not important now).

Sign up to acdelcotds.

Purchase:

Code: Select all

Vehicle Programming Software
Includes: 24 months access to program all modules for one vehicle (VIN)

Connect tech2 to PC with above mentioned cables (although USB to serial adapters can be hit and miss and not all work)
Power tech2 with power adapter and leave on Tech 2 loading screen.

From tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web/?target= screen

Run java applet, follow prompts till it's succeeded and granted level 2 level 3 access.

Go back to car and and from the Engine menu link BCM to PIM/ECM, select ECM replaced, follow prompts and punch in security code when asked.

Tech2 on its own can't fix all. You need the laptop and cables to Go with it... Or just get an MDI, tech2win and acdelco account and put the Gameboy away

Good in theory, except any time SPS is chosen in tech2win it complains that silly people can wreck their ecu.... which kinda stuffs getting permission to link a VZ ecm

Although a USB port hack on a tech2 reduces the amount of needed cables an adapters.

Connect tech2win to the car and leave tech2win at the main start page then start tis2web and select security and follow prompts, see if it grants level 3 access..

Okay, Holden ver 185 fails as above

Using an older version (142 or 173) seems to work though, tried it a while ago along with no sps menu in the newest and thought it didn't work anymore when I attempted .
