Ford AU lost security info while driving
Got a strange one and hope someone might shed some light on it.
Ford AU (yes I know) driving along and the lights went dim. He turned the car off got out to have a look and yes dim lights. Got back in and turned the key. Nothing. Called Aliance roadside assist and they said it was a security code issue. I scanned the car and it said it had lost the security code. Are these things that dumb that a flat battery shuts it down. Don't they use non volatile ram for this type of info? I suspect an alternator problem but with not being able to get it started I cant confirm that either. The battery has been charged and the engine cranks by bridging the starter relay but no spark or injector pulse.

Yeah, been there, fixed that.... Have had a few towed in with the same issue, recode keys and a parameter reset and away you go (after fixing the alternator problem, and probably the power steering oil leaking into the alt ) Never got to the bottom of the cause but assume that the prolonged low current causes corruption of the sec. code???
It is a must that you have 2 genuine keys available to be able to carry out this job successfully (a clone/copy key won't cut it) and of course a capable scan tool.
hope that helps.

Yea bigvl I had the same thoughts so I have sent him to a mate that should have a scantool capable of doing such. Lucas electrics. Why don't gentlemen motor after dark? because all their cars have lucas electrics. Another. Why do pommies drink warm beer? Because they all have Lucas fridges. Any better jokes welcome.
Thanks for the input.

ha ha that is great, spent years trying to get british classic car owners to upgrade their electrics ,little did I know ,those intermitent wipers were a must for them, not to mention automatic diming headlights.
but jokes aside were not getting to the original question.Which I can't help with.

And to think they also make brake pads.
Waiting on feedback about the scantool resetting so will let you know if it was successful as soon as I know.
