That's the one. On my 512kb PCM, a couple of the solder dots to the left of the arrow aren't there, but otherwise the board looks very similar.

For BDM, this is apparently the one to get:

I have one, but I haven't tried it yet as I haven't bricked a PCM that hard yet.

Yet... :)

If you squint you can see an arrow that I drew with a Sharpie at the top of this picture, near the middle.

The BDM device from usbjtag is good value for money, works well. I’ve unbricked a few 512kb ecus now using it that you can’t recover even by earthing the pin to flash

Bricked the ECU in the WH yesterday, been fiddling with the impact factor settings a fair bit, attempted to flash the calibration, got a vc runtime error resulting in the program locking up, upon a re-attempt couldn't see the ECU in the ls1 flash tool, the method mentioned here brought it back to life.
Got me thinking that buying some ECU plugs to attempt to make a bench flasher might be handy, searching on ebay I found some, though also found this re-flashing unit for sale, looks to be a neat setup, guessing I'd still need to earth the pin shown in this thread for recovering a bricked unit, has anyone here brought / used this setup from ebay yet..?

Please don't buy that unless you need it right away. I am almost finished with my bench programming unit that will do almost all of the protocols, aldl, vpw, pwm, feps, Kline, Lline, CAN, etc, Built in CAN termination that can be bypassed. It program's at 13.7v or the internal regulators can be bypassed for Battery 12v. I will post some pics in a different thread. Initial boards and enclosures are here and will be sending out to many for testing. It's similar to a few on the market now but has more features and will be priced for the hobbiest or professional. Ken, you have been here long before me. PM me and I'll send you one to test.

p.s. for the others, even though I haven't told everyone, there are quite a few from here that will be getting a free one to evaluate.
