These PCMs that won't allow reading... do you know if they work when installed in a car?

I hadn't made the connection with the recovery mode that my PCM got into, but yes this could be the same thing. When mine was in that state, the car was not driveable.

I ask because I recently purchased a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero GL that has one.
My understanding is that the PCM is related to the 0411 but uses a completely different part number - 12582720, 12583826, 12583827 & 89017736.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Mike.
I'm waiting for some free time and I'll start to tackle this. If you would like to help with testing I'd appreciate some.

If it has the same CPU and flash chip as a 411 there's a good chance it will work, but I can't make any promises without testing it or knowing what's in those PCMs.

If you're willing to spend the $40ish to get an AllPro cable, it would be interesting to try doing a full read.
If that works, Try a "quick compare" with the file that just got read out.
If that works, try a test write - this will also print out the flash chip ID, which will be very helpful if the chip is different from what's in a 411.

Ok so after the read, I loaded up tuner pro with the 512.dll and xdf 12202088 and the values are not right on anything. The ECU is from a 2000 Truck with LM7 (4896). Is their a special XDF I need? The 0411 XDF is supposed to work from what I read.

Here is a copy of the read properties

[12:11:33:041] VIN: 1GCEK19T1XE113519

[12:11:33:680] Broad Cast Code: CWAF
[12:11:33:776] MEC: 0

What I also found weird was when I used quick comparison on the .bin it read then compared it to a stock 2001 LS1 0411. The bin it just read off the 4896 ECU shows bad but the 0411 shows good...

What XDF was used, it must match the Operating System ID (OS ID)

Looking at the log you posted that would be: 9373372

-Enjoy

: )_~
Hi grampy! I am using the Gearhead4life newest version. I was hoping that they would work on the 9373372 xdf. Does anyone know where I could get the XDFs for OS 9373372 and also why it would read the bin then fail comparing it before even edited?

These are what I am using.

Sorry, They will not ...

I missed the Comparison fail, if you cannot do a 'Read full Contents', then a 'Quick Comparison' against that file just created, there are issues with the read.
