P59 custom os for 1uz

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

P59 custom os for 1uz

Post by Built-vs-t5-ute »

Hi guys, new to this side of the forum as I was doing a v6 build quite a while ago but things have changed since then. I now own a 1uz ls400 that I'm in the process of converting to a gm p59 ecu with iac and coil on plugs. I've been looking into a p59 modification allowing 2 ve tables? Not sure if it's a real thing but would really like the ability to have the extra resolution for tuning as I will have to start from scratch given the nature of my swap. Would live to get as much help as possible if I can :) I'm hoping to achieve an awesome ecu worth the conversion than can do as much as possible.

Could you explain why 2 VE tables would give you more resolution over a single VE table that was twice as big? Also, why do you feel you need more than what the factory GM tables give you if you are not going above atmospheric? The primary modifier for the fuel system, the cylinder size, is a 16bit value. That is pretty close to being able to compensate for ml/cylinder changes in volume. VE cell values are 16bit. You already have a huge amount of resolution to match your calibration to the engine.

I am working on code for an extended VE table. If you are brave enough to try it I will post it. I don't want to brick my PCM before I get another one.

I may be using it on a motor it is not intended for also. I haven't fully decided yet.

From what I saw it was 2 ve tables the same size as the original p59 table not 2 seperate that make up the same. So instead of lowest being 30kpa it's something like 10 or 15 up to 105 then the second table is 105 up to 2 or 3 bar. I would love to give your os a try man ecus are pretty cheap around me. Post up what you've got and id love to have a look on tunerpro at what sort of res you managed to get. Has anyone managed to get realtime with tunerpro to work yet? And also I'll probably end up going boosted if all this works out and I can get it running the way I want too.

Does the 1uz crank trigger wheel pattern match the LS1? If not, is that problem solved?

No the patterns are different I believe but i will be swapping both cam and crank triggers to accommodate the 58x and 4x triggers on the crank and rhs cam gear respectively

they didnt switch to 58x 4x till the gen4 pcms started being used, all p01 p59s used 24x 1x or 4x 1x on the non coil on plug engines

Not with hammer yet, the are electronic throttle only also. P01/p59 is what most ppl use for swaps because the programming is very flexible
