VATS delete

Post by yoheer »

I've disabled VATS in 2003 GMT840 car.
Used 603 Os and a bin from similar car. Everything is good. The engine starts.
BUT the security lamp on the dash is ON now, while the engine is running. Sometimes it switches off but then swithes on again. How to switch it off at all? I modded the VATS option to 2. That is all I made about VATS.
Is it possible to disable the security lamp or i'll have to desolder it?

Vats delete will only turn it off in the engine ECU, it has no control of the BCM or theft module in the car..
You'll either have to live with the light, remove the bulb, bypass the theft/passlock module in the column or repair the system..

The bin is not stock. It is 603 os, so i had to disable vats because of another bin.(stock os is 405) With stock bin the system is okay. It works.
How to bypass the system?

If it’s the same ecm I don’t think it would matter if cal/os is changed & shouldn’t need to do vats delete.

Can you post up your 603 OS bin? Im not sure what the long form OS number is for those OS. And which XDF are you using with it?

603 = 12587603
405 = 12579405

The ECM is the same.
Both bins attached.
I used a new bin because of new OS and made a full flash
How to combine these two bins and install VATS segment into new bin?
Or put mods into stock file?

Yep, that looks like a bad edit. The VATS byte was updated, but to an invalid value. This OS only supports 0 for VPW, and 1 for Vats off. It was set to 2. Some other OS also have PWM, so 2 might be the correct thing there. But not here.

Im also not sure about your cat delete edit, but Im not sure what your trying to do there so I left that be.

The summary is you have an XDF with an error in it.

This shows the before an after. The first change is the system segment sum update, the second is setting VATs off to the right value.

Re: VATS delete

I'll clarify a little.

STOCK_2003 Tahoe 12579405.bin is my stock file

VIN+CAT_DELETE_12587603.bin is a file from a different car with different ecu. It is from Escalade. And this file has a correct OS which I can edit. Because there is only one good developed XDF file for P59 ecu.
So I had to change the OS in my ecu and flash my ecu with a bin file from another car. Then I need to disable VATS to start the engine with not stock BIN file.
I think so.

If I'm not correct then:
1. Do I need to disable VATS when I just flash a new bin from the other car with different OS, leaving the stock BCM and the stock ignition key?

2.Operating System 12587603 - 1Mb PCM - 2004 model year.xdf
I used it to modify new bin. Do you think this file is incorrect?

yes i think that is incorrect. flash my update calibration in and see if it solves the vats problem.

if flashing new os you would flash the paramater block to match the os and then set the vin back to match the car. i think this would mean you need to relink the security or disable vats. i dont have one of these cars to test though.
