Vortec 350 TPI 411 Conversion

Post by Aedakin »

I am looking for a bin/xdf files from a 01 - 03 GM Service Van with a Vortec 5.7 with 411 PCM

This project should be fun.

Taking an old 350 block, modding for roller cam, Vortec Heads, TPI, run by a 411 pcm, dropped into an '86 K5 Blazer. With a few other mods, it should have some pretty decent low end for crawling these Arizona trails.

Im not well familiar with US model codes, but I think the Vortec is an L31? And The Service Van is an Express van? If so, then this bin might be what you need. Its the 12212156 OS too, so good XDFs available.

BTW Antis, I'm not to worried about the engine model like the L31, Just a map I can start with. plan for two conversions. Both older 350 blocks. One getting a TPI with the Vortec edition lower intake manifold. Other getting a mod'd LT1 Intake with either mod'd LT1 heads or Ported 416 heads. Or should I use a LT1 map for that one? I imagine so since I am using the intake and maybe heads as well. I figure the difference in the heads in RPM range. 416's are torque monsters on a 350 but no rpm range. The LT1 heads should flow much better, but has less compression.

I have another question along the line of this kind of conversion. Could I use the tach signal off an HEI for the CMP, or does the PCM need to see a CMP signal? Otherwise, what would be a good method of getting a CMP signal?

You can use a factory “Vortec” distributor.

It has a 50/50 tooth trigger built in.

Cam position is not mandatory but you do lose sequential injection and spark if that's not utilized.
