Delete the settings folder %localappdata%\PcmHacking
Start: PcmHammer
Select: Debug log tab
Select: Select Device
. . Select: Serial Port
. . Select: Device Type: ObdLink or Allpro
. . Select: Ok

If it hangs, post a screen shot.

Thank you.

Hi all,

If the ELM is a clone of any sort and uses firmware with a version number of 1.5 it will not work as there is code in PCMHammer that checks for this version and stops the app from working as it is NOT a genuine version.

ELMs dont work anyway, they're not capable of the block sizes needed. But we had even more problems with 1.5s not even able to talk to the car and get basic info back, hence the block. This thread is about vcx nano though.

Ok so!
I can replicate this issue when:
1) When the VCX dll in the root windows folder is missing (C:\Windows).
2) When antivirus blocks the usage of VCX dll

The DLL in that folder is the 'heart' of the communication to the scantool for J2534.
The VX Manager directly communicates to the scantool, which is why that dll does not matter for it, but all other softwares that use j2534 will need that file there.

Tazzi, the dll is in c:/windows, and my antivirus is disabled. When I select device, Hammer actually loads the .dll in log (after the error 126 box appears and I click ok) but can't communicate or initialize the device. The weirdest part about all this is my nano is functional in all other software I use it with.

Gampy, where is the settings folder located? I can't seem to find it. This program installed from Microsoft app store. There is hidden folder WindowsApps and it won't give me permission to open it. I even tried to force permission, and windows won't allow it. Wondering if this is part of the problem?

Type the following into Windows search, or the Location Bar in Windows File Manager ...
%localappdata%\PcmHacking
It will take you to your Local Personal Settings location (plus PcmHacking) ... Typically something like,
C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\PcmHacking
But not always, it depends on the Windows setup, thus the use of the Environment setting %localappdata%, it always expands to the correct location regardless of how Windows is setup.

Is this on the same installation of Windows and no VM's ??

Would you please post a pic of the front of your Nano ...

Thank you!

I have never installed it from Windows App Store ... Can't see how that would be an issue.

But we could find out easily enough ... Unzip the test build I sent you and run PcmHammer.exe from there.
