1996 BLACK BOX

Post by BillNobody »

Hello all,

I am looking for options to tune a 1996 5.0L Auto 4x4 Vortec black box PCM. I have tried HP Tuners, it failed to read the VIN, or gather any info from the '96 PCM. I have Dimented's black box flash program, but no AVT device. I do have several J2534 devices and an Obdlink LX. Is there anything compatible out there that won't require a susbtantial cash investment?

Have you looked at changing to a 0411 PCM?
If you change to a 0411 PCM, it'll open a lot of options for you.
Like PCMhammer or LSdroid can flash it and Tunerpro can tune it.

Thorwon,

This is for a customer of ours and I am just exploring options, the '411 upgrade was one of those options presented. The guy wants to keep the truck "all stock" while he installs the 35" tires and CAI. I digress.

Just making sure I haven't missed anything out there in the world for these black boxes as I rarely deal with them, or customers not willing to move closer to the 21st century.
