2001 OLDSMOBILE AURORA 3.5L. PCM

Post by Thorwon »

I need to find a way to read and write to this PCM.
I can read it (kinda) with hptuners but then it faults when it starts to save the file, because hptuners doesn't support this PCM. This is what hptuners gives me.
It has an Intel chip. If anybody can help it would be appreciated.

Gampy, I spend hours reading on this and other forums.
I've read that thread several times. There's a lot of good information in it.

While I understand enough to use the tools that you and others create, I just don't understand the tools good enough to create or modify them to my needs.

I got an email from hptuners this morning. they sent a link to VCM Suite 4.11 beta. It has support for this PCM.
Now I just need to decide if it's worth $100 worth of credits. LOL
I'll probably do it after I get everything gathered up to build the harness with.

I really want to run a coil near plug on this engine. It's not like this is a performance engine, it's just to see if I can do it.

Thanks for bringing this OS to the site. It is the missing link we looked for for a long time. The factory setup of v6 FWD pcm to use Coil on plug. It was known the hardware is capable but not that sure on the software side. I did some schematics research and the pcm uses unknown cam position sensor and the wiring of 6 individual coils in modules of 3.

You are not specifying what needs to be tuned in this pcm. The Os is still not supported but we can port some specific tables pretty fast. DTC,Ve and Maf are available so far.

For reading/writing lsdroid is capable but not sure if the feature is enabled for general use. Maybe you can ask PeteS to unlcok the support.

Hp will likely have some very basic support and definitely not what you are looking for.

Here is the stock bin file with that OS.

Have you seen the ignition coil setup on the LX5?
It has a "module" that bolts to the valve cover on top of the three plugs - so, yes, it will run a COP system.
Just need to find out WHICH coils work with it for CNP.

I think I'm going to see if I can run LS style coils. Just got to figure out how to wire them up.
