I assembled my own variant CDI ignition (I know where solder has handle ) I used special controller chip for power switched supply cuz now 21 century (MSD CDI made inside like 70s schematic -solid but old parts ,design -overcomplicated)Charlescrown wrote:The only ignition system I know of that fires the plug on buildup is CDI where 400 or so volts is stored in a capacitor the dumped into the coil.
It was so powerful that instantly made blue death screen to my PC that worked near ) and burn paper when I placed it into sparks
500V and 1mS long
So I can assemble 6 CDI modules but its not useful to lock myself on my own modules and cant replace it if it burned or so
AND 6 coils+ wiring+6 modules (or 1 with 6 channels) utilise much more space and can fail more easily cuz of engine vibration
OEM parts maybe not the best but they can be replaced fast
