Bench harness and VCX Nano, cannot get full read p01\p59

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

Bench harness and VCX Nano, cannot get full read p01\p59

Post by MercRising »

I have tried 4 power sources, can't seem to find one at 12-13v and over 1 amp steady. So, I cannot get a full read from PCM hammer. Same bench harness and power supply works with HPTuners. :comp: :wtf:

What's the requirement here, 13v 1+ amp? My bench harness does have switched 12v constant as well as 12v ign switch.

Here's a log of last attempt and I tried 2 pcms also.

+13.8v is beautiful.

I was more concerned with the PCM pinout on the bench harness, there are some done differently ...

Big hardware difference between HPT and PcmHammer ... The VCI.

The Nano should have the latest and greatest firmware, if I understand correctly the Nano FORCES updates or quits working. Stupid control freaks!
They are also widely used with PcmHammer.

It is not getting a response at all from the mode 34 request ...

Do you by any chance have any other VCI's, like another J2534 or even an ELM, something that is PcmHammer compatible, it would be very helpful to have a bus log ...

Only the vcx nano.

I'll triple check obd2 pinning.

This reminds me of my attempt at reading a p04 PCM. I got same error iirc. Are you sure these are p01/p59? What does hptuners say?

12202088 is a P01 OSID so unless someone has gone way out of their way to mess things up, I believe it is a P01. There is something else wrong here, power/writing/faulty pcm/something else? Cant really say from the above, but can see it stops responding when it gets asked for permission to upload the kernel. Does version 20 work?

Also, the nano won't even try to work if it doesn't have a good license which has to be updated every 60 days, and you can't get a license if you don't have the newest firmware. So the fact that he can communicate with it means his firmware and license are new. My nano works fine, so i don't think it's a nano issue, though I don't know that for certain.

I am confused on licensing for Nano, I have not done any licensing at all. Found on their page that they do $0.10 licenses but not sure what for. Working on this some more later today some more, fingers crossed. :typist:

Have tried both p01 and p59, so yes...that was a p01. Finding more guys wanting these lately on swaps because they're sick of playing the TB/TAC/ECU game when they don't get it all as a package.

I'll have to try v20 later today when I get a chance.

?????? You haven't installed vx manager? Then just install the j2534 passthru driver. Newest version of vx manager will update license automatically. I'm surprised you get any communication through the tool without it. What driver did you install?

Cincinnatus, it did force a firmware update when I first got it speaking to their VX Diag software. Do I need to do anything else since I bought the GM specific one? When I set up, all I installed were GM and j2534. I was under impression this was not a licensing required tool unless I wanted to get on ACDelco for GM stock files.
