They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

P01 OS change

Post by Dazza92VP »

hey guys
got a quick one for you im looking to change the OS on my P01 from 12225074 (2004 adventura) to 12216125 (2002 chev tahoe) im looking at using this OS as it seems to be the only OS with flex fuel supported unless there is another
one anyone has cooked up that is capable?
now ive gone and bought my self the obdx vt pro interface is there any reason this migration wouldnt be accepted or work?

also is there any option to change the base reference spark angle that could be added to the xdf as im planning on using this pcm on my 304. ive drawn up a crank trigger to sit behind the harmonic balancer and a bracket to suit
but would be a hell of a lot easier to set it up if you could change it in the tune but if it cant be the sensor bracket is able to be adjusted about 4 degrees either way hoping thats enough to get it right.

Sorry I can't help with the question about the OS.
But do you have a drawing for the reluctor? Is that thing 3D printed?

I ended up finding the pattern for the x24 trigger angles off of the Haltech website drew it up in Fusion 360 and 3d printed it for mock up before sending it off to get quotes on being machined up

not to turn you in a completely different direction, but I would suggest a P59 PCM with 7603 OS.

the crank offset for 12216125 is located at 0x8028. Has word length, multiplier is x/45.51.

I have looked at that but I already have this pcm sitting here so figure I may as well use it and if all else fails i can always swap to it. Thanks for that info will make life a little easier

12212156 is probably the most featureful OS for the P01. It would be a good choice. Please keep us informed!

Thank everyone have added a notation mark on my trigger wheel if you look near one of the bolt heads there’s a small what looks like a pin hole but is actually tdc mark it will be pretty close with just bolting the sensor and trigger wheel up but may always need a little adjusting for tolerances
