Cloning and licensing

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

Anyone know if you have to match hardware ID's when cloning in order to have licensing work? I tried cloning two different P59 PCM's. One was licensed. The other cloned perfectly (according to PCM Hammer), but when the license check happened, it said it was not licensed. Just checking if anyone has experience with this.
