0411 PCM / VY Dash Cluster - Where is the trip computer?

Post by evilstuie »

Hey All,

Just wondering if the "trip computer" data i.e. instant fuel reading, average fuel consumption, kms to empty etc is a result of the PCM or the is it calculated inside the dash cluster itself based on readings from the PCM?

I've removed my VY cluster and will be using Palmer Engineering's DashCommand for my gauge data, and it has it's own trip computer data, so I'd assume it takes data from the PCM and just expands on it, but I just wanted to confirm this is the case?

The trip mileage and all fuel economy data is calculated within the cluster. The cluster reads the amount of fuel vehicle, engine run time and vehicle speed, then calculates from there.

Awesome, thanks.
The DashCommand software takes care of all the trip side of things from the looks of it, just need to figure out how to set warning levels for it now.
