VT L67 into Toyota Hilux

Post by Beergut »

G'day all,

I have an L67 out of a VT Commodore complete with ECU which I am putting in an old Hilux.
The conversion place I got the engine mounts etc. from is trying to sell me a BCM simulator for nearly a thousand dollars.

Can I run the ECU without the BCM?
I have a spare BCM with coded key and harness, What do I need to do to get the engine running?

I have basic programming skills and basic knowledge of analog/digital electronics and more time than money.
I also have an ALDL cable to connect to my laptop.

Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

No BCM required. Burn a new memcal with VATS removed and low speed fan disabled and all will be ok. Use the enhanced code and copy in the HSV updates that will get it moving along better.

holy crap, that's just rude, it would want to make your coffee and toast too :P

agree with Dylan, do it yourself or get someone here to make you a vats removed memcal, it will be a hell of a lot less than $1000.

Mine is running without a BCM or simulator. Seems better for a fast start as soon as you hit the key.
Don't know who did the memcal, maybe MARKS 4wd adapters.

yeah theres a way around it either way you want to go, I have the slow start issue on my Bedford (304 with VR V8 PCM and VS BCM) it does nothing for a few seconds when you turn the key to start, but other than that works fine.
