I still run the original 82 degree thermostat (factory fitted to early 308s) with a pair of electric fans on a single circuit which switch on at 95 (off at 90). The original temp gauge on the dash still shows a similar range to before, the fans don't run too often or too long and the temp rarely creeps above the 95 which gives me at least 10-15 degrees safety margin.

True, all they care about is getting the best possible economy numbers, never mind how the car will run after it runs out of it's warranty.......

i found most read 80 - 82c while on the highway and in winter may drop 1c more, mine reads 79c in winter and 80c in summer, i use that stable reading to base fan settings on with a 2c margin, ive found 4c difference between on and off to be good without the fans getting annoying. i also use the high speed fans with a 2c difference from low so if the temp climbs a bit it comes on to help drop it back in low fan range. So if it was 80c i would use these. I find the factory settings to wide i like to keep my engine at a nice stable temp.

Low
86 on
82 off

High
88 on
84 off

Everything is working well, maybe some slight tweaking like The1 has mentioned ^^^.

Thanks
