Vs series 3 v8 ute

Post by The J'rod »

Hi All,
First time poster, have a vs series 3 v8 ute and looking to do a cam change, just wondering if anybody knows of anywhere/anyone to do tunes on the Sunshine Coast , or whether any of you guru's out there would be able to do a custom chip, I'm changing the inlet manifold with the cam, as I have a extrude honed one ready to go on, so airflow will be a lot different so I'm assuming mail order custom chip may be difficult.

Just after any info or points in the right direction, and would love to hear about people's wins/losses modifying series 3 v8's.

Cheers everyone

I've done a couple of stock one's. But given they run a MAF you could get away with a mild cam upgrade. Timing isn't to bad to start off with in them compared to the older one's. I'd go ahead and see how it runs afterwards. What's the cam spec's?

Slightly off topic but you mentioned it so I will ask, where did you get your manifold extrude honed?

Thanks Dylan I'm looking in about the 230 duration with 520lift (forgot to mention I'm changing springs to 550 as well and looking to change to ls1 injectors), and around 110-112 lsa

Hey MAGP, got it done at Mount Helen near Ballarat in Victoria, it cost $880 + postage so it cost me near a $1000

The extrude hone will most likely affect the AE settings as the surface area of the manifold will be different. I know of problems at manufacturers caused by changing the type of sand used in the casting that upset fuelling on later model vehicles due to the change in the intake runner roughness.
The cam will also probably upset the MAF at low RPM due to the pulsing of the airflow, should be able to adjust them in the mgc vs rpm multiplier table to sort out.

Hi All,
So I have recently got my aldl cable and downloaded tuner pro rt and am trying to start logging data as a start, I have read and been through all the beginners guide stuff and have got to the point of needing an ADX file, just wondering is there a good file on here for a standard , manual vs v8 s3 that people have used. (I have been through the stock holden bin files was just wondering if anybody would recommend one in there that they have used, I see there is a few hsv 195kw manual, v8 ,s3 in there, would they work ok even though mine is a stock 179kw.)

Cheers
