Thats a nasty ecu, suspect its one of the ebay ones with fake nvram that will likely let you down. Its some kind of comms mod but dont know whats in that pvc pipe bit. I wouldnt bother with it, probably more trouble than its worth.

The chips are eproms. Probably too small to hold 12p but need to know the numbers to be sure. Even if big enough you'll need a uv eraser and time for each erase/write cycle.

Generally you want eeprom (where ee=electronic erase). You can make up a simple adaptor to plug the memcal straight in the programmer (after soldering the new chip or socket on) and erase and re-write quickly and easily. The chips are old and hard to find genuine which work but there is a chinese supplier sending genuine working recycled chips pretty cheap. Ive posted the link before and could dig it up again.

Also that nvram has a 2011 date code so it wasnt built in 2010 or by ace who just cleaned up stock computers. But being a likely fakey the 2011 still means nothing for quality. The clones tended to have rubbish non-industrial grade batteries unlike the genuine parts and didnt last and even less so in cars.

Thanks Antus

I will remove that fake NVRAM and socket it instead.

Would it be worth while trying the ecu with the logging mod? it might work? if not which logging mod should i do for it? and do you only have to do the logging mod for the 808's ? or the later models also?

Set fire to that whole set up.

Buy a USB comms board for a new 808 from here.
Buy a new NVRAM from here.
Solder the write wire underneath the board on the new 808.

And go for it.

No, VR onwards was fitted stock. Same NVRAM module can be used in a 424.

See the hardware guide in the faq (link in top right). 808 is the only model that needs the comms board. 424 and newer have high speed aldl from factory.
