Here is a genuine VS t5 housing. you can see the cast in recesses.
I discovered the issues years ago when I was looking at converting a VP to ecotec but the housing would not mount flush. I saw the bolt head marks in the housing face. I was going to mill is but never got around to it because I ended up finding the buick to be a better platform. Then when my nephew wanted a T5 conversion in his VP a belhousing in a lot of manual part he bough had a VS housing and I saw the factory did what I was planned to do those years back.
